KRB Donates Ambulance to Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital under its CSR

Thursday, 04 July 2019 by krbgo

Kenya Roads board has donated an ambulance to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital under it’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
The donation comes after the realization that there is only one ambulance on the forefront of emergency medical service in the referral hospital, a situation that has created difficulties in meeting the growing patient demand.
The ambulance is envisioned to make emergency medical services accessible to the general public and provide that much needed link to continuum of health service. Not only will the ambulance play a critical role in the way emergency services are availed, but will also ensure
patients are catered to; in the shortest time possible, providing first care that will help stabilize the patient as they are transported to the hospital.
Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital is situated between two extremely busy roads; Nairobi-Nakuru and Nairobi-Mai Mahiu making it significant as a first respondent to reported or referred accident cases.
The hospital offers its services to parts of the neighboring Districts of Lari, Kinangop, Narok and Nakuru central districts, therefore serving a population made up of referrals from health facilities in the sub counties.
“The hospital’s location, between the two highways adds to our workload, due to frequent road traffic accidents.” Notes the medical superintendent.
Although the hospital established a casualty section dedicated to accidents victims in 2013, there has been an increasing demand of services with 3521 patients admitted between July and December 2018. Of these, 1274 were victims of road accident.

Further, the following areas were cited as having reported the highest number road accidents resulting from motor vehicles motorcycles within the same period: Kayole, Mai-Mahiu road, Naiavasha town, Delamere/Father Kaiser area, Fly over, Kinungi and Karai.
